PLC/PAC/RTU Automation Systems

The heart of an automation system is the logic in the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). Automation of Things are experienced in programming all major brands of PLC from small controllers with a few I/O to modern PAC (Programmable Automation Controller) systems with thousands of I/O. We also work with RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) devices, which can range from a single point, to thousands of points.
Choosing which system is right for you and your needs can be a daunting task, but our team is here to help explain each system and discuss each system thoroughly. Automation of Things are specialists in communications and interfacing between any PLC, PAC and RTU systems. Having a diverse range of customers across a number of key industries, our team has extensive experience with all major protocols and remote I/O systems, and can help you to choose a PLC, PAC or RTU system that is right for you.
At Automation of Things, we develop software that is modular and reusable, which reduces development costs and improves ongoing maintainability, reducing costs in the short and long term. Automation of Things has also built a solid IT infrastructure that ensures all critical project data from any PLC, PAC or RTU systems is stored securely, on both local, and offsite backups. Our disaster recovery plans ensure we are able to continue business from offsite backups in case of a major incident.
We look forward to working with each individual client to ensure the system chosen is the best system for the job, and to ensure that the system conforms to any standards / conventions as required. Our engineers are results focused, and determined to deliver projects on time and on budget.

The major PLC/PAC/RTU vendors we use are:

  • Unitronics
  • Allen-Bradley
  • Siemens

SCADA Interface Systems

The primary interface to process control systems in industry is the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. We are experienced in developing software for SCADA and HMI (human-machine interface) systems from stand-alone touch-screen systems to large networked systems with features such as redundancy, multiple clients and multi-monitor support.
Modern SCADA systems allow real-time data to be accessed from any location. This allows governments, businesses, and individuals to make data-driven decisions about how to improve their processes in real-time. Without SCADA software, it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to gather sufficient data for consistently well-informed decisions.

SCADA systems are at the core of many modern industries including;

  • Water and waste water
  • Energy
  • Food and beverage
  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation
At Automation of Things, we design bespoke solutions, to ensure the client gets the best system for the job. SCADA systems work well a variety of industries and are able to monitor, gather, and process data as well as interact with devices such as valves, pumps and motors, which connect through HMI software.
We design all SCADA/HMI systems to be user-friendly and intuitive. We use standard features of the underlying system to ensure that the system is maintainable and scalable well into the future. We are experienced in telemetry communications and implementation of open standards such as OPC.
Effective SCADA systems can produce a significant saving of both time and money. Several case studies have been published emphasising the many benefits of using modern SCADA software solutions.

The major SCADA/HMI systems we use are:

  • Rapid SCADA
  • Geo SCADA
